That iconic crimson-red cranberry harvest you see each fall doesn’t just happen overnight—it’s the result of year-round care and attention.
In the spring, our team focuses on best management practices like pruning (check out our previous post!) and barge sanding. This process helps encourage healthy growth by pinning down long-running vines, while also adding nutrients and naturally reducing weed and pest pressure. Most cranberry bogs benefit from some form of pruning every three years to stay productive and healthy.
In this video, you’ll see a recent barge sanding application on one of our larger bogs. We know – it looks like a pond – but it’s actually a flooded cranberry bog hard at work beneath the surface. Special thanks to our drone division, NexGen Drone, for this great footage.
