LIFE on the BOG
A Special Honor
We recently had the pleasure of learning how our donation of stabilized stone dust to the Carver Elementary School affected the students who use the walking/running trail that was created at the new school.
First graders William Caron and Nolan Farquharson, and Ellie Beaulieu, Hazel Butterworth, Nia Blackwell, who are in the fourth grade, came before the Carver School Committee to tell about their use of the path. Phys Ed teacher Renee DeMarsh, who spearheaded efforts to get the nearly half-mile path on track after it was removed from the construction budget, said the three fourth-grade girls were selected to present because they recently competed in a race and took three of the top four spots.
Chris Ierardi, general manager of our Read Custom Soils division and a vice president of the A.D. Makepeace Company (shown with the students), said the path will be ADA compliant and easy for the School Department to maintain. The town’s Director of Operations & Maintenance, Dave Siedentopf, and his team, were thanked for their work in getting the project completed.
We were delighted to stand with these athletes and hear about their experience. Learn more here.
