Time to Cook The Cranberries

With the harvest behind us, it’s time to make good use of the cranberries, either fresh or canned.
For many, the classic Thanksgiving side dish is also the simplest: open a can of Ocean Spray cranberry sauce, slide it out whole onto a plate, and serve. Or gussy it up with a sprig of rosemary.
But if you’ve picked up a bag of fresh cranberries, making whole berry sauce couldn’t be easier: simmer a cup of water, a cup of sugar, and a 12-ounce bag of berries for 10 minutes and let cool. You can replace the water with virtually any liquid – orange juice, with a little orange zest, is particularly good. Volunteer to bring the cranberry sauce this year and you’ll be the star of the Thanksgiving table – no one needs to know it took literally 20 seconds of effort.
And why not celebrate the humble cranberry all throughout the holiday season?
Go straight to the source and make Ocean Spray’s famous cranberry nut bread. It’s superb with honey butter.
Feeling saucy? Make like our new friend Sabrina Burke and add the jellied stuff to spaghetti sauce or chili.
Or our other new friend, Daron the Chef, who serves Ocean Spray juices – straight up or as a cocktail – with pretty much everything.
